About OCI

OrleansCounty.Info's (OCI) objective is to become the next "organ of communication" and provide the community-at-large with an accurate and up-to-date on-line resource to connect to Orleans County (NY) agencies, businesses, organizations and talent.

The Erie Canal, which travels through Orleans County, along with the unique architectural concept of the Culvert provided inspiration for the OCI logo design. (Refer to the images above.) The Erie Canal, built between 1817 and 1825 and connecting the waterways from Albany to the Great Lakes, was responsible for unprecedented development and prosperity that came not only to New York State but to the states beyond its western border in the first half of the 19th century. According to Ripley's Believe It or Not, the Culvert, located in the heart of Orleans County, is the only tunnel that was constructed to drive under the Erie Canal, a rather resourceful and unique feat in it's time. It is these two historical icons that represent the "connection" that the creators of OCI would like to campaign for.

The staff, OCI Partners LLC, is comprised of creative communications specialists, designers and professionals who have spent countless hours researching and gathering information that is presented on this site. Furthermore, the staff relies on community members to participate by submitting their event announcements and business & organization updates to promote OC commerce and fundraising efforts.

The searchable directory includes names, addresses and telephone numbers of every business, organization and agency within the Orleans County borders and a few from neighboring communities. We offer OC businesses & organizations one free directory listing to promote your business. A nominal set-up fee applies to include a hyperlinked web site address and/or listing in more than one category. (Refer to our Criteria for Inclusion.)

The web log or "PRESS" page has been implemented for agencies to post important public information. The Forum (coming soon!) is a free service available for community members to connect with each other.

This website will not only be a resource for current Orleans County residents, but also for those who have moved away from the area and want to maintain a connection to their roots as well as many who are considering visiting or relocating to our region. OCI Partners anticipates a high volume of web traffic to the OrleansCounty.info website and will offer businesses & organizations a chance to display their link & logo on a particular page's sidebar.
